To build anticipation for Destiny, Activision’s biggest and most ambitious video game launch, we created Destiny Planet View, an immersive experience that let fans explore the game’s alien worlds as if they were strolling their own city streets. Powered by Google Street View, the platform allowed gamers to navigate Destiny’s futuristic planets with the same ease as exploring their neighborhood on Google Maps.

Interactive hotspots invited players to click and uncover hidden easter eggs, character arcs, and backstories, as well as preview rewards and weapons waiting for them in the game. By blending real-world navigation with rich in-game lore, we gave fans a deeper connection to the universe before the first mission was even played.

The result: over one million unique visitors in less than a week, helping to prime one of the most successful launches in Activision’s history.
